Tom Kidd is an award-winning illustrator known for his vibrant, imaginative artwork and contributions to both literature and film. He is the author of four art-focused non-fiction books: The Tom Kidd Sketchbook (1990), Kiddography: The Art & Life of Tom Kidd (2006), OtherWorlds (2010), and How to Draw and Paint Dragons (2010). His work has earned him numerous accolades, including a World Fantasy Award for Best Artist, a Locus Award, and eight Chesley Awards. As a concept designer, he has collaborated with major studios such as Walt Disney, Rhythm & Hues, and Universal Studios.


Kidd has illustrated classic literary works including The Three Musketeers, The War of the Worlds, The Last Unicorn, and Twenty Thousand Leagues Under the Seas. He is the official cover artist for the “1632” alternate history series by Eric Flint and others, with over 40 covers created for Baen Books. His recent projects include deluxe illustrated editions of Jack Vance’s The Dying Earth and Josiah Bancroft’s The Books of Babel for Subterranean Press, as well as Swords and Deviltry, Dark Crusade, and Elric: Fortress of the Pearl for Centipede Press. In 2026, he illustrated the official calendar for A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms by George R.R. Martin.
