Heretics of Dune by Jim Burns – featured in The Imaginariad Collection

Jim Burns is one of the most celebrated science fiction and fantasy artists of the past fifty years. His journey to art began in an unexpected place—flying solo as a trainee jet pilot in the RAF before pivoting to pursue illustration full-time. After enrolling at St. Martin’s School of Art in 1968, Burns received his first professional commission in 1972, launching a career that would see his work grace the covers of hundreds of books across the speculative genres.

Fusing classical painting techniques with futuristic imagination, Burns helped define the visual tone of modern science fiction and fantasy literature. He has won three Hugo Awards and a remarkable fourteen British Science Fiction Association (BSFA) Awards for Best Artist. His atmospheric, hyper-detailed style led to contributions on films such as Blade Runner and The Chronicles of Riddick.

Jim Burns offers high-quality prints of his most iconic works. For enquiries or purchase information, you can contact him directly at: jim_burns@blueyonder.co.uk

"Reflecting this fact I think this vision of ’The Imaginariad’ is a wonderful and inspiring venture, drawing upon a burgeoning surge in activity on so many creative fronts over the last few decades and providing an ambitious and fabulous resource where people can be awestruck and inspired by a sense of the ‘fantastical’ and where imagination can be allowed to take flight."
