Shai Hulud by John Harris – featured in The Imaginariad Collection
John Harris is a renowned British artist whose monumental, dreamlike landscapes and towering sci-fi vistas have made him one of the most distinctive voices in imaginative art. With a career spanning decades, Harris is best known for his epic depictions of spacecraft and futuristic architecture, capturing not just the machinery of science fiction but its grandeur and spiritual scale. His work has graced the covers of books by some of the genre’s most iconic authors, including Orson Scott Card, Isaac Asimov, and Ann Leckie, and he was a regular contributor to Analog and Interzone.
Trained at Exeter College of Art, Harris began his career as a traditional landscape painter before turning to speculative art in the 1980s. His painterly style—rich with atmospheric perspective, vast open spaces, and glowing light—evokes awe and contemplation, often blurring the line between the natural and the technological. In 2014, a major retrospective of his work, Beyond the Horizon, was published by Titan Books, cementing his legacy as a master of the genre.

Words of support for The Imaginariad
"To bring together all these differing fruits of many artists and their imaginings and invite people, particularly a younger generation, to immerse themselves in their visions must have a huge effect."
