Leo Gonzales is a self-taught oil painter and tattoo artist whose work draws from the rich traditions of fantasy illustration, cosmic horror, and the visual language of classic role-playing art. Influenced by artists such as Frank Frazetta, Boris Vallejo, and the fantastical worlds of Heavy Metal and Dungeons & Dragons, his paintings explore dark, imaginative landscapes filled with mythic creatures, mysterious figures, and symbolic narratives. Each piece reveals a layered approach to colour, texture, and storytelling, inviting viewers into worlds that feel ancient, epic, and alive.

Alongside his fine art practice, Gonzales has been tattooing since 1994 and is the owner of Stay Gold Tattoo in Albuquerque, New Mexico, a studio long recognised for its craftsmanship and creative pedigree. His ongoing transition toward more studio painting reflects a deepening commitment to larger, atmospheric works that blend the bold aesthetic of tattoo design with the depth and detail of traditional oil painting.
